Gemini Discount Plan Guide: Google AI Plus at KRW 7,500 a Month Is Enough for Light Use

Who this is forPeople deciding between Google AI Plus and Pro during the Gemini discount who want to know which plan fits their use.

TL;DR: The current Gemini discount is 40% off Pro, and only on annual billing. It ends October 31, 2026. If you mainly ask questions and make images, Plus at KRW 7,500 a month is enough even without a discount. Pro earns its price when you load many documents to ask questions or make slides. The biggest gap as you move up the tiers is storage.

1. The plans at a glance

Google’s main AI plans come in three tiers, not counting the free one. The prices below are South Korean prices (in KRW) from the Google One plans page as of September 2026.

Google One plans page with three cards side by side: Google AI Plus at KRW 7,500 a month with 400GB, Google AI Pro at KRW 29,000 a month with 5TB, and Google AI Ultra from KRW 119,000 a month with 20TB. A banner above the Pro card reads 40% off annual plans until October 31, 2026
The blue banner above the Pro card marks the discount that is running now.

The differences from Free up to Plus and Pro are collected in one chart below. The values come from the gemini.google plan comparison and the Google One page.

Google AI plan comparison, as of September 2026. The biggest gap as you go up is storage. Free 0 won, Plus KRW 7,500 a month, Pro KRW 29,000 a month. Storage (shared across Gmail, Drive, and Photos) is 15GB, 400GB, 5TB. Gemini app usage is baseline, 2x, 4x. Flow credits are limited, 200, 1,000. Gemini in Gmail for conversation summaries: yes, yes. Gemini in Docs: none, none, yes. Gemini Notebook audio overview is baseline, expanded, 5x. Writing Gmail drafts with Gemini does not work on free accounts in South Korea (US only). The 40% annual Pro discount is limited to eligible users and runs until October 31, 2026.

2. The biggest benefit is storage

When I posted about this discount on Threads, 4 of the 8 replies were about storage.

I can’t give up Google storage either, so I keep using it lol

I need Google storage, so I cancelled the other one and I’m using this. I’ll pay annually.

Storage on a Google account is shared across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos.

Galaxy OneDrive sync ends: where do the photos go?

OneDrive sync in Samsung Gallery (Samsung’s built-in photo app) ends on September 30, 2026. According to Microsoft’s notice, after the shutdown, photos uploaded to OneDrive disappear from the Gallery app, and the connection between the two accounts is also cut.

Storage plans vs. AI plans: what’s the difference?

Google One (Google’s paid storage service) also has storage plans whose names don’t include AI. I use Pro on my work account. On my personal account, where I collect photos, I bought a storage plan separately from Google Photos. But when I looked at that account’s upgrade screen, I couldn’t quite tell how it differed from the AI plans.

Google One upgrade screen. At the top is Standard 200GB at KRW 37,000 a year. Below it, a monthly and annual toggle with a 16% savings label has annual selected. The upgrade options show Google AI Plus 400GB at KRW 75,000 a year and Google AI Plus 2TB at KRW 119,000 a year, each with a 16% off label
AI Plus appears as an upgrade option right below the Standard 200GB storage plan.

AI plans add the Gemini features from the chart in Section 1 on top of storage. On this screen, paying KRW 38,000 more per year raises storage from 200GB to 400GB and adds Plus’s Gemini features.

3. Who Plus is enough for

If you mostly ask questions, make images and videos, and call Gemini inside Gmail or Google Vids, Plus is enough.

Google Drive works the same way. Regular search by file name is free. But Gemini search that asks in a full sentence, like “the quote I received last month,” requires a paid plan according to Drive Help.

4. Where Pro pays for itself

I use Pro. I found three uses where Pro felt worth the price.

Loading lots of documents to ask questions and build slides

NotebookLM was renamed Gemini Notebook in July 2026 (Google’s official blog). You add materials as sources, ask questions, and build slides, mind maps, and quizzes right from the Studio panel on the right.

The right Studio panel has buttons for AI audio overview, slides, video overview, mind map, report, flashcards, quiz, infographic, and data table, plus an already-made slide titled Daily Automated Data Pipelines. A PRO badge appears at the top right

Getting a Gmail draft from one line

In the Gemini button in the compose window, I typed only “an email politely asking to reschedule next Tuesday’s meeting.” It produced a draft with up to three candidate times.

Brackets mark the blanks Gemini left open. Fill in the dates and names, and it's ready to send.

5. Check the discount conditions first

The Pro discount has three conditions, based on the wording on the plans page.

  • 40% off, annual plans only
  • Limited to eligible users
  • Until October 31, 2026

You can’t get this discount with monthly billing. Because of the eligibility condition, check the price on screen before you pay.
