marketingskills is a public repository of 50 skills for marketing work such as conversion rates, copy, and SEO. This post covers the problem it solves, who it suits, how to install it and run it for the first time, and the one install mistake that makes the whole pack disappear.

What problem it solves

Marketing work with an agent tends to start from zero every time. You explain the product, the customer, and the positioning before asking for landing page copy, and then explain them again before asking for an SEO review or an experiment design. marketingskills fixes that with one shared document. The product-marketing skill writes a file about the product, customers, and positioning at .agents/product-marketing.md, filling a draft from your repository or README first and then asking you to confirm it. The other skills read that file before they work.

The rest of the pack is breadth. The README groups the 50 skills into nine categories: conversion optimization, content, SEO, paid advertising, measurement, retention, growth, strategy, and sales enablement. Skills such as copywriting, cro, and ab-testing are set up to reference each other’s outputs, so the copy you write can feed the page review, and the review can feed the experiment.

Who it fits

The chapter rates four situations. Three are enough to decide.

Situation Fit Reason
Improving SaaS conversion rates Good fit Includes CRO and copy
Planning email flows Good fit Includes the emails skill
A team without an agent Poor fit A collection of instruction files

Offline promotions sit in the middle. The skills still help, but their examples focus on SaaS, so expect to translate them to your own situation.

Install and first run

Install the whole pack, only the skills you need, or the pack for Claude Code specifically.

# Install all skills
npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills
# Install only the skills you need
npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills --skill cro copywriting
# Install for Claude Code
npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills -a claude-code

After that, ask for a marketing task as usual and the agent picks a suitable skill, because each skill’s description lists the request phrases that should invoke it. You can also call one by name.

Review [landing page to improve]

The README lists Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, and Agent Skills-compatible tools as supported agents, so the same pack works on both sides of this series.

What trips people up

Name the target agent when you install. The README says that running the CLI noninteractively inside an agent session installs only into the generic .agents/skills/ path, and Claude Code cannot read that path. The result looks like a successful install with no skills available. Add -a claude-code to the command. If you upgraded from an older version, also check for leftover folders: in v2.0, 17 skills were renamed and page-cro and form-cro were merged into cro, and you have to delete the folders with old names yourself.

Where this comes from

This post adapts part of chapter 02-01 of The Claude Code & Codex Skills Guidebook. The full chapter covers the table of core skills and what each is for, and the pricing and sponsorship caveats for the service integrations in the pack’s tools folder, and the book has 52 more skills like this one. Frequently asked questions

Who is marketingskills a good fit for?
It fits marketers improving SaaS conversion rates, since it includes CRO and copywriting skills, and anyone planning a post-signup email flow, since it includes an emails skill. Offline promotions work less well because the examples focus on SaaS, and a team without an agent gets little from it.
Why does Claude Code not see the skills after I installed them?
Running the CLI noninteractively inside an agent session installs only into the generic .agents/skills/ path, which Claude Code cannot read. The README advises adding -a claude-code to the install command.
